An industrial zone near Moscow caught fire; the blaze spread across thousands of square meters
A fire broke out in Shchelkovo, near Moscow, in an industrial zone where trash was being stored. The fire has already spread over an area of about 7,000 square meters and continues to engulf new sections.
Footage released shows a thick plume of dark smoke rising above the industrial zone.
According to the aggressor country’s authorities, the fire has spread partly across open terrain and partly to a building. Ninety people and 34 pieces of equipment have been deployed to fight the blaze. Heavy machinery is also operating at the scene.
The released footage shows a thick column of dark smoke rising above the industrial zone. Initially, the fire was reported to cover an area of about 5,000 square meters. Subsequently, the area of the fire increased to 7,000 square meters.
According to the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, the concentration of harmful substances in the air does not exceed permissible limits. However, the footage clearly shows a column of thick black smoke rising above the fire site, casting doubt on the occupiers’ statements. Shchelkovo is located in the Moscow Region, approximately 20 km from the Moscow Ring Road (MKAD).
