Following Russia's attack on Sloviansk, the Latvian consulate was damaged and there were fatalities
On the morning of July 24, Russian troops carried out an airstrike on Sloviansk in the Donetsk region. Five people were killed and nine others were wounded as a result of the attack. Residential buildings, a business, and the premises of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Latvia were also damaged.
This was reported by Vadym Filashkin, head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration. According to him, the Russians dropped two aerial bombs on the city that morning.
According to preliminary data, five people were killed and nine others were injured as a result of the strike. At the same time, the Regional Military Administration emphasized that the number of casualties may be subject to change.
Ten private homes were destroyed as a result of the attack. In addition, a local business and the premises of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Latvia sustained damage.
“The Russians are attacking our cities every day—and for the second day in a row, their attacks have resulted in numerous casualties in Sloviansk. It is dangerous to stay here!” Filashkin emphasized.
Authorities are urging residents of the Donetsk region to evacuate to safer parts of Ukraine, as Russian troops continue to strike settlements in the region.

As a reminder, Russia launched a ballistic missile strike on Kyiv on the afternoon of July 24, although such attacks usually occur at night. The expert believes this could have been an attempt to wear down Ukraine’s air defense, a show of force, or the result of a technical delay in the missile launch.
