A Putin aide accused the Baltic states of helping Ukraine carry out attacks on Russian ports
Russian Presidential Aide Nikolai Patrushev stated that the Baltic states and Finland are effectively participating in attacks on Russian territory by providing airspace for Ukrainian drones.
This was reported by Rossiyskaya Gazeta, noting that this allegedly allows the Ukrainian Armed Forces to strike maritime infrastructure and merchant ships in the Leningrad Oblast. Patrushev emphasized that such actions by NATO member states will have corresponding consequences for security in the region.
According to the Russian representative, the distance from Ukraine’s northern borders to the Leningrad region is over 1,400 kilometers, requiring a coordinated route through foreign airspace. As evidence, he cited reports of SMS alerts sent to Estonian residents regarding the appearance of drones and the discovery of drone debris on Finnish territory. Patrushev also mentioned Helsinki’s position, where officials had previously refused to demand that Kyiv cease strikes on targets within the aggressor’s territory.
Official Moscow views such support as direct intervention by the Alliance in the conflict on Ukraine’s side. Previously, Russia has repeatedly threatened retaliatory measures for facilitating Ukrainian operations deep within Russian territory. Currently, the Baltic states and Finland continue to strengthen the security of their borders and coordinate actions with NATO partners amid the Kremlin’s aggressive rhetoric.
As a reminder, Finlanddemands that Ukrainian drones never enter its territory.
Finland has deported a record number of Russians.
Finland is also making it harder to obtain permanent residency.
On Sunday, two drones, likely belonging to Ukraine, crashed on Finnish territory.
