Over 50,000 people without electricity: Odesa Regional Administration declares state-level emergency

Due to massive Russian attacks on the energy infrastructure of Odesa region, more than 50,000 people have been left without normal living conditions. The Odesa Regional Military Administration (OVA) has recognized the situation as a state-level emergency and has begun additional measures to support critical infrastructure, according to OVA head Oleg Kiper.

The emergency caused by the massive enemy attacks on Odesa’s energy infrastructure has been elevated to a state-level emergency,” Kiper said.

As a result of the Russian strikes, over 50,000 residents of the region have lived for more than three days without normal living conditions. To minimize the impact, the emergency commission instructed local administrations and police to educate businesses about energy conservation and minimizing decorative lighting use.

Additionally, funds from the reserve fund are being allocated to communities to replenish fuel supplies. This is necessary to ensure the continuous operation of generators powering hospitals, schools, resilience centers, and other critical facilities.

In the city of Artsyz in Odesa region, electricity may not be restored until December 26. After Russian strikes on the region’s energy infrastructure, DTEK specialists continue large-scale repair work.

On the night of Saturday, December 13, Russia carried out massive missile attacks on Odesa, Odesa region, and several other cities.

Following this attack, Artsyz was left without power, and electricity is not expected to return for at least a week.

Mayor Serhiy Parpulansky warns that the situation is difficult, and while conditions in villages and the military town are somewhat better, they are still unsatisfactory.
