Kharkiv–Lviv train endures a series of challenges
Train No. 21/22 on the Kharkiv–Lviv route faced a series of serious challenges over the past day, including emergency transfers, stops due to drone wires, and technical issues in the carriages. Despite everything, passengers reached their destination. The company highlighted the coordinated work of the crew and the support of partners, Ukrzaliznytsia reported on Telegram.
Over the past day, train No. 21/22 became the “most troubled” journey). Passengers had to be moved into carriages that were not damaged after a collision with a truck. The train was then towed back to Merefa by a backup locomotive and passengers were transferred again to reserve carriages prepared in Kharkiv in just an hour and a half.
“Today’s train is a symbol that we all choose not to give up. Where it would have been easier to cancel the service and refund tickets, we mobilized all reserve resources, as well as the support of our reliable partners,” Ukrzaliznytsia said.
Passengers were provided with meals in Kyiv — “iron snacks” from World Central Kitchen for 413 people. The train was later stopped near Vyshneve ahead of a swarm of drones passing overhead. In Ternopil, 167 passengers received hot meals, after which the train continued its journey, reducing the delay to about one and a half hours.
Ukrzaliznytsia thanked all passengers for their understanding and emphasized the work of the crew, drivers, and everyone involved in restoring the service around the clock. “Detours and delays of up to two hours on the Kharkiv route will continue for now as repairs are ongoing. Damaged carriages will return after repairs,” the company added.
This journey became a clear example of how, even under difficult conditions, Ukraine’s railway system continues to operate at full capacity to ensure passengers reach their destinations.
On the night of April 4, Russia attacked Ukraine with nearly three hundred drones. Air defense forces neutralized 260 of them. At the same time, hits and falling debris were recorded in several regions.
In the Kherson region, one person was killed and another 25 were injured over the past day due to Russian attacks. Kherson and dozens of settlements in the region were under fire.
