Ukraine's air defense forces destroyed 642 aerial targets, including 40 missiles
On the night of June 2, Russian forces launched a massive combined strike against Ukraine, using attack drones as well as various types of air-, sea-, and ground-launched missiles. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, a total of 642 aerial targets were shot down or neutralized, including 40 missiles and 602 enemy UAVs.
The main target of the strike was Kyiv. Dnipro, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Poltava, and other regions were also attacked.
In total, the Air Force’s electronic warfare units detected 729 air attack assets—73 missiles and 656 UAVs of various types:
- 8 3M22 "Zircon" anti-ship missiles (launch areas – the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Kursk Oblast, Russian Federation);
- 33 Iskander-M ballistic missiles (launch areas – Bryansk, Kursk, and Rostov regions, the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea);
- 27 Kh-101 cruise missiles (launch areas – Vologda Oblast, Russian Federation);
- 5 Kalibr cruise missiles (launch areas – Caspian Sea);
- 656 Shahed, Gerbera, and Italmas strike UAVs, “Banderol” loitering munitions, and “Parody” decoy drones (from the following directions: Bryansk, Kursk, Orel, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk – Russian Federation, Gvardeyskoye, Chauda, and the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea).
The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
According to preliminary data, as of 08:30, air defense forces had shot down or neutralized 642 targets—40 missiles and 602 drones of various types:
- 11 Iskander-M ballistic missiles;
- 26 Kh-101 cruise missiles;
- 3 Kalibr cruise missiles;
- 602 enemy UAVs of various types.
According to preliminary information, as of 08:30, 30 ballistic missiles, 3 cruise missiles, and 33 attack UAVs were recorded hitting 38 locations, as well as the fall of downed (debris) UAVs at 15 locations.

As a reminder, Russia attacked dozens of settlements in the Kherson region over the past 24 hours, resulting in casualties.
On the evening of May 24, Russian troops carried out an airstrike on Druzhkivka in the Donetsk region, hitting a high-rise residential building. A woman was killed in the attack, and five other people were wounded.
In the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kyiv, a business center was hit following a massive nighttime attack by Russia. Preliminary reports indicate that people may be trapped inside the shelter.
As a result of Russia’s massive missile and drone attack on Kyiv, the blast wave damaged the ground-level lobby of the Lukyanivska metro station.
