Air Defense Downs 146 of 176 Russian Drones
Ukraine’s air defense forces have neutralized 146 out of 176 drones launched by Russian troops since the evening of April 7. Efforts to repel the air attack are ongoing.
This was reported by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Telegram.
According to the statement, starting from 18:00 on April 7, the enemy carried out a massive attack using 176 strike UAVs, including Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, as well as other types of drones. Launches were conducted from the directions of Bryansk, Kursk, Oryol, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, as well as from Chauda in temporarily occupied Crimea. About 120 of them were Shahed-type drones.
Aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems, and mobile fire groups of Ukraine’s Defense Forces were involved in repelling the attack.
According to preliminary data as of 08:00 on Wednesday, April 8, air defense forces shot down or suppressed 146 enemy drones in the north, south, and east of the country.
At the same time, hits by 24 strike UAVs were recorded at 12 locations, along with debris from downed drones falling in one additional location.
The attack is not yet over — several enemy drones remain in Ukrainian airspace.
During the night of April 8, the south of the Odesa region came under attack, resulting in damage to civilian and port infrastructure.
Earlier, as a result of a Russian overnight strike on April 6, 73 buildings were damaged in the Kyivskyi district of Odesa, including 14 apartment blocks. Three people were killed, including one child, and 17 others were injured. Emergency services dealt with the aftermath, rescuing seven people and removing hundreds of cubic meters of debris.
Additionally, during the day, Russian forces attacked settlements in the Zaporizhzhia district, injuring three people.
In the village of the Novobilouska community, two elderly women were injured as a result of enemy drone strikes on April 7, 2026. Explosions damaged residential buildings and outbuildings on two streets of the settlement.
