Air Defense Downs 146 Enemy Drones During Overnight Attack

During the night of April 8, Russian occupation forces launched a massive attack on Ukraine, deploying a record number of strike drones.

The enemy attacked simultaneously from six different directions, attempting to overwhelm Ukraine’s air defense system.

According to official data from the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the enemy launched 176 strike UAVs of various types. Among them were around 120 Shahed drones, as well as Gerbera and Italmas types.

The launches were carried out from Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Kursk, Oryol, Bryansk, Millerovo, and temporarily occupied Crimea.

The air attack was repelled by anti-aircraft missile forces, aviation, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups.

Thanks to the coordinated efforts of Ukraine’s defenders, 146 enemy drones were shot down or suppressed. Combat operations continued throughout the night in the northern, southern, and eastern regions of the country.

Despite the high effectiveness of air defense, hits by 24 strike UAVs were recorded at 12 different locations.

In addition, debris from downed targets was recorded falling in one location, causing damage to infrastructure. Emergency response efforts are currently underway at the impact sites.

Earlier, Russian forces attacked the Dnipropetrovsk region.

They also struck Nikopol, where a one-and-a-half-year-old child was among the injured.
