Ukraine has imposed new sanctions against Russia

UA NEWS 29 April 2026 17:09
Ukraine has imposed new sanctions against Russia

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the adoption of new sanctions targeting Russian entities and individuals.

According to him, the first sanctions list targets individuals involved in the illegal removal of Ukrainian children from temporarily occupied territories, the destruction of their identity, and their concealment from their families and the state. It includes representatives of the Russian authorities, collaborators, and propagandists.

The second package of sanctions covers 23 vessels that Russia uses to export oil in circumvention of restrictions—the so-called “shadow fleet.” Some of these vessels are already subject to sanctions by international partners.

Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine is working to synchronize sanctions with its allies to enhance their effectiveness across different jurisdictions.

Also, according to the president, another sanctions package is being prepared in the near future, which will be of particular significance.

The European Union may impose sanctions against individuals and companies suspected of facilitating the transport of grain, exported from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, to the port of Haifa (Israel).

As a reminder, the European Union has expanded sanctions against Belarus as part of a new, 20th package of restrictions targeting Russia and its allies. The decision affects Belarus’s defense sector, as well as entities that, according to the EU, support Russia’s war against Ukraine. For the first time, a Chinese organization linked to Belarusian military production has also been added to the list.
