US President disappointed that Zelensky has still not read the peace plan
US President Donald Trump stated that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, as of several hours ago, had still not familiarized himself with the American “peace plan” aimed at ending the war with Russia.
He said this while speaking with journalists, commenting on the results of consultations between Washington, Kyiv, and Moscow.
Trump emphasized that he personally expected a quicker reaction from the Ukrainian president, so Zelensky’s current position causes him some disappointment.
According to the US president, the White House held separate conversations with Vladimir Putin and with representatives of the Ukrainian government, including Zelensky himself.
During these contacts, Washington presented both sides with its version of a “peace agreement,” which the US administration considers a realistic basis for negotiations.
Trump stressed that the proposal had already been delivered to the Ukrainian side, but, based on the information he had, Zelensky had not yet read it.
Trump also stated that Moscow is generally prepared to accept the proposed document, despite the fact that “Russia would like to have all of Ukraine.”
In his view, the Kremlin is now showing readiness to discuss a compromise shaped by the United States, even though Russia’s initial ambitions remain much larger. At the same time, the US president emphasized that Russia’s agreement does not automatically guarantee support from Kyiv.
Trump also drew attention to the position of Zelensky’s closest circle. According to him, the Ukrainian president’s team received the American plan positively and considers it an acceptable basis for discussion.
However, he stressed that the key decision must still be made personally by the head of state, and so far there is no confirmation that Zelensky has even familiarized himself with the document.
“Zelensky’s team likes it, Russia agrees with it, but I’m not sure that the president of Ukraine himself supports this agreement,” Trump stated.
As a reminder, Trump is confident that the United States will be able to achieve peace in Ukraine.
Trump has also said that the US is no longer spending money on assistance to Ukraine.
