More than 4,000 educational institutions in Ukraine have been damaged due to the war, according to Lisovyi
Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, more than 4,000 educational facilities have been damaged and 422 schools have been destroyed.
This was reported by Ukraine’s Minister of Education and Science, Oksen Lisovyi.
According to him, Russian shelling is deliberately targeting universities and educational infrastructure in an attempt to disrupt the educational process and influence young people.
“The targeted shelling of universities is an attempt to disrupt education, sow fear, and make young people doubt their future in Ukraine. This is a cynical attempt to strike a blow against education as the foundation of the country’s development,” Lisovyi noted.

The minister clarified that since the start of the invasion, more than 18 percent of all educational institutions in the country have been damaged or destroyed. Of these, 422 have been completely destroyed, and more than 4,000 have sustained varying degrees of damage.
At the same time, he said, restoration work has already been carried out at more than 1,500 institutions, and major repairs have been completed at nearly 400.
“We will restore these universities—just as we are restoring hundreds of other institutions across the country. Education is functioning and will continue to function despite the war—we are doing everything possible to ensure this,” he added.

Earlier reports indicated that on the night of April 15, Russian troops attacked two universities in Dnipro.
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Syrskyi reported that despite the intensification of enemy offensive operations across the entire front line, Ukrainian defenders managed to seize the initiative in certain areas.
