Russia has launched a disinformation campaign against Mykhailo Drapaty – CPD
The Center for Countering Disinformation reported a large-scale Russian information attack targeting Major General Mykhailo Drapaty, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Russian propaganda is spreading fake statements allegedly made on his behalf.
The Center urges the public not to trust unverified reports and to rely only on official sources of information. It emphasizes that such campaigns are part of an information war aimed at discrediting Ukraine’s military leadership.
According to the CPD, fake news, manipulative posts, and unverified rumors about the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are being widely circulated on Facebook, Threads, and other platforms.
It is noted that false information is being spread primarily through bot accounts about alleged conflicts between generals that “almost escalate into fights,” “unprecedented inspections, searches, and audits in military units,” “the disbandment of the TCC,” or “the deployment of all TCC employees to the front lines.”
The Center emphasizes that this scheme for spreading disinformation has a specific goal. “The scheme of mass dissemination of such materials on social media aims to discredit the military command, provoke conflicts, and sow division within the Ukrainian Defense Forces,” the statement reads.
The CPD also noted that Russian propaganda is spreading fake statements purportedly on behalf of Mykhailo Drapaty. “By spreading fake statements attributed to Mykhailo Drapato, they are attempting to create inflated expectations and a distorted perception of reality among the public in order to further discredit the commander-in-chief on these issues,” the Center noted.
This was reported with reference to the Center for Countering Disinformation.
The Center stated that there is no official information regarding Iran’s preparations for a strike against Ukraine.
Russia’s war against Ukraine and the conflict in the Middle East are becoming increasingly intertwined and could become part of a broader global confrontation.
Iran possesses a significant arsenal of medium-range ballistic missiles, some of which are potentially capable of reaching Ukrainian territory if launched from Iranian territory. Analysts have assessed the capabilities of Iran’s missile arsenal and identified the most dangerous models.
