Mobilization in Russia: The mayor of Lipetsk and officials signed contracts with the Ministry of Defense

The mayor of Lipetsk, the deputy governors, and a number of officials from the Lipetsk region have signed three-year contracts with the Russian Ministry of Defense to serve as part of mobile fire teams.

This was announced by the region’s governor, Igor Artamonov. According to him, the officials will undergo three months of specialized training and combat coordination, after which they will resume their regular duties. During training sessions lasting up to two months, they will take turns on combat duty.

Artamonov stated that the mobile fire groups are being created to protect the Lipetsk region from aerial threats. He also reported that the first group has already been formed, while other civil servants and employees of subordinate agencies are undergoing selection and medical examinations.

Lipetsk Mayor Mikhail Shcherbakov called the signing of the contract a “deliberate step” and stated that the mobile units will be responsible for guarding critical infrastructure, ensuring security, and carrying out civil defense tasks.
