Putin ignored the most powerful drone attack on Moscow in history

Putin ignored the most powerful drone attack on Moscow in history

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has remained silent in public for more than a day, completely ignoring the most intense drone attack on Moscow and the Moscow region since the start of the full-scale invasion.

As a result of the massive attack, at least 17 people were injured; one of the drones crashed into a residential building; and in the Russian capital itself, two shopping centers caught fire and a powerful explosion occurred at an oil refinery in Kapotnya.

Despite the widespread destruction and panic among the population, the Kremlin leader decided to completely distance himself from any public coverage of these events.

On the day of the massive airstrike—when the sky over the Russian capital was completely shrouded in black smoke and “oil-soaked rain” fell across the region—Putin was in Kazan attending the ASEAN summit.

In his official speech, he spoke, as usual, about building a “multipolar world” and trade in national currencies.

The leader of the aggressor country held a series of meetings with the Sultan of Brunei, the prime ministers of East Timor, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia, and the leader of the Philippines.

During these diplomatic talks, the Russian leader discussed issues that had absolutely nothing to do with the security of his own country.

In particular, Putin promised the Sultan of Brunei to actively develop joint tourism, promised the Prime Minister of Cambodia to provide educational opportunities for foreign students in Russia, and personally thanked the leader of Laos for the gift of two elephants.

Following the summit, the dictator also commented on the new international agreement signed between the U.S. and Iran. According to the Russian president, these agreements should stabilize global food and energy markets.

The Kremlin leader’s subsequent actions also demonstrated his indifference to the emergency situation in the Moscow region.

At a meeting with Tatarstan’s head, Rustam Minnikhanov, Putin enthusiastically praised the “fine civilian vessels” currently being built for passenger transport on the Volga River and wished the residents of Tatarstan a “happy Sabantuy.”

On Friday, Putin convened and chaired a regular meeting of the Russian Security Council, during which he again made no mention of the successful drone attack.

Analysts believe that this behavior is a deliberate tactic to distance himself from negative news amid the protracted war.

By ignoring yesterday’s strike on Moscow, Putin sought to project “calm,” thereby shaping public sentiment toward the Ukrainian attack.

However, the reaction of ordinary citizens and the expert community turned out to be completely opposite to the Kremlin’s expectations.
