Russia attacks Cherkasy region with drones, injuries and fires reported

On the night of 2 February, Russian occupying forces carried out a massive drone attack on the Cherkasy region. As a result of the strike, at least four people were injured.

This was reported by Ihor Taburets, Head of the Cherkasy Regional Military Administration.

“We are recording the crash of enemy UAVs at several locations, including in the regional centre. This caused fires to break out,” he explained.

According to preliminary information, four people sustained injuries. All relevant services — emergency responders, medics, and law enforcement — are working at the scenes.

Further details on the consequences of the attack are expected to be released later.

Air raid alerts were announced in various districts of the Cherkasy region immediately after the threat was detected. The Ukrainian Air Force repeatedly warned about the movement of enemy drones towards the region.
Local media also reported explosions near Cherkasy.

Earlier, military expert Oleksandr Kovalenko reported that in January 2026 Russian forces launched 91 ballistic missiles at Ukraine, the highest number recorded since the start of the full-scale war.

Over the past day, Russian occupiers also shelled the Kharkiv region, using guided aerial bombs and several types of drones.

On the night of 1 February, Russian forces carried out a large-scale attack on Ukraine, deploying 90 drones, around 60 of which were Shahed-type attack UAVs.

In Dnipro, two people — a woman and a man — were killed as a result of an enemy drone strike.
