Russia attacks two civilian vessels with drones near Ukrainian ports
On January 12, a Russian drone strike damaged a Panama-flagged tanker and a San Marino–flagged bulk carrier.
This was reported on January 12 by Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine and Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Kuleba.
According to him, a drone hit a Panama-flagged tanker that was waiting to enter port to load vegetable oil. As a result of the strike, one crew member was injured and is receiving necessary medical assistance. Maritime rescue services arrived at the scene, and a fire onboard the vessel is being extinguished.
In addition, an attack was recorded on a civilian vessel flying the flag of San Marino that was leaving port with a cargo of corn. According to preliminary information, there were no casualties, and the vessel continued on its route.
On January 7, 2026, the Russian occupation army carried out another attack on port infrastructure in Odesa region, using missiles and strike drones.
