Russia is attacking Ukraine's oil and gas infrastructure for the second day in a row
On the night of April 5, 2026, Russian drones struck facilities belonging to the Naftogaz Group in the Poltava and Sumy regions.
This was reported by Serhiy Koretskyi, Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz of Ukraine, on Facebook. According to him, a gas production facility in the Poltava region came under fire, which the occupiers had been deliberately shelling over the previous day.
In the Sumy region, a fire broke out after a drone struck another oil and gas facility. Units of the State Emergency Service were deployed to extinguish the fire. Koretsky emphasized that thanks to adherence to safety protocols and the fact that personnel were in shelters, none of the company’s employees were injured. Systematic attacks on energy infrastructure are part of Russia’s strategy to destabilize Ukraine’s fuel sector.
Currently, experts are assessing the extent of the damage and working to restore stable operations at the attacked facilities. The gas supply situation remains under control, despite the enemy’s constant attempts to destroy critical production hubs. The intensification of strikes on Naftogaz facilities in April 2026 coincides with similar Russian attacks on Israel’s power grid, as previously reported by Ukrainian intelligence. This was reported by Ukrinform, citing official sources from Naftogaz management.
As a reminder, Russian drones have again attacked Naftogaz facilities in the Poltava region.
Naftogaz presented the EU with a project to rebuild the Druzhba oil pipeline following the Russian attack.
In addition, the Naftogaz Group has finally won a lawsuit against Russia’s Gazprom for more than $1.4 billion.
