Russian occupiers plan to seize the resort town of Zatoka in Odesa region
Russia has not abandoned its plans regarding Odesa and Mykolaiv; however, Zatoka in the Odesa region plays a separate strategic role for it.
This was stated by Ivan Tymochko, head of the Council of Reservists of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in a comment to UNIAN.
According to him, Russia’s interest in southern Ukraine is primarily linked to its desire to gain control over trade routes in the Black Sea. At the same time, the Kremlin views Zatoka as a key point for creating threats to Moldova and for ensuring support to the Russian military contingent in Transnistria.
Tymochko emphasized that Zatoka’s attractiveness for Russia has increased amid Moldova’s decision to completely block the supply of Russian troops in Transnistria, as well as due to Chisinau’s course toward closer ties with Romania.
He added that Transnistria remains one of the potential directions of Russia’s further aggression.
Russian statements about the capture of Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi do not correspond to reality.
Also, fighters of the “Khartiia” unit are clearing Kupiansk of remaining occupying forces.
