Russia is stepping up airstrikes and drone attacks in the south

Russian occupation forces have significantly increased the intensity of their use of aerial bombs and various types of drones in southern Ukraine.

This was reported by Vladislav Voloshin, spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces, in a comment to Ukrinform. According to him, over the past 24 hours alone, the enemy carried out 21 airstrikes, using 116 guided aerial bombs (GABs), and the total number of GABs used over the past month has reached 2,261.

A significant increase has also been recorded in the use of kamikaze drones, the number of which has risen from 1,600 to 2,300 units over the past few weeks. In the Dnipro region, nearly 800 drones are deployed daily, with the “Lancet” and “Molniya-2” models predominating. Overall, during the month, the Defense Forces recorded the enemy’s use of nearly 55,000 drones, exceeding March’s figures, when approximately 50,830 units were recorded.

The highest concentration of strikes is in the Zaporizhzhia region, where between 35,000 and 37,000 attacks have been recorded, and in the Kherson region—over 18,500. Additionally, Russia has increased the frequency of “Shahed” drone launches, with the number reaching 2,800 per month—an average of up to 100 drones per day in the southern regions alone. Despite the high intensity of the attacks, Ukrainian defenders continue to destroy a significant portion of enemy aerial targets.

Recall that the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported the destruction of a Russian tactical group, a UAV unit, and a command post.

Russian troops have advanced near Riznykivka in the Donetsk region. Analysts at DeepState reported the change in the situation after updating the map of hostilities.

On May 1, Russian troops carried out 857 strikes on the Zaporizhzhia region. Dozens of settlements came under fire. In the Zaporizhzhia district, three people were wounded, and there is damage to housing and infrastructure.
