Russia has failed to establish a buffer zone along the border — State Border Guard Service

Russian occupation forces have failed to carry out their plan to create a so-called “buffer zone” on Ukrainian territory along the state border.

Despite constant attempts to advance and deploy significant infantry units, the enemy has not achieved any significant success in the Kharkiv and Sumy regions.

Andriy Demchenko, spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, discussed the current situation on the northern borders during an interview on Radio “Charter.”

According to him, Russian leadership planned to seize a strip about 20 km deep to protect its own territory from artillery fire, but these plans remained unfulfilled.

Currently, the invaders’ greatest activity is being recorded in the Khotyn, Yunakiv, and Krasnopil communities of Sumy Oblast.

In the Kharkiv region, the hottest spots remain the Zolochiv and Vovchansk communities, where the enemy continues to press on Ukrainian defensive positions.

“Putin noted that this is about 20 km along the border, but specifically within Ukrainian territory. By doing so, he plans to secure Russia’s border so that Ukraine cannot inflict damage. But in reality, the enemy has no way of achieving these plans,” emphasized Andriy Demchenko.

Particularly fierce fighting has broken out in the area of the settlements of Vovchanski Khutory, Digtyarne, and Nesterne.

The Russian command threw large infantry forces at the positions of the “Gart” Special Forces Brigade, attempting to break through the defense line and advance deeper into Ukrainian territory.

Over the past three weeks of active assaults in this sector, the occupiers have suffered catastrophic losses.

According to border guards, the enemy lost over 300 soldiers killed and another 300 wounded, after which the intensity of their attacks significantly decreased.

As a reminder, agents of the “ATESH” movement carried out another successful sabotage operation behind Russian occupiers’ lines. This time, their target was a substation in the Voronezh region; its destruction disrupted the supply of Russian troops in the Kharkiv sector.

According to the DeepState monitoring project, Russian troops were able to advance near two villages in the Sumy community close to the state border over the past 24 hours.

In Zaporizhzhia, the occupiers seized a church and banned worshippers from praying.
