Russia is not currently preparing an offensive against the Chernihiv region, but the threat remains — State Border Guard Service of Ukraine
There are currently no signs of Russian troops preparing for an offensive along the border with Chernihiv Oblast, but Russia has not abandoned such plans. Andriy Demchenko, a spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, reported this on August 5.

“Fortunately, the enemy is not carrying out any actions along the border with Russia within Chernihiv Oblast. Specifically regarding our state border, there are no indications that the enemy is deploying infantry units or sabotage and reconnaissance groups. Of course, the threat has not gone away,” Demchenko said.
According to him, Russian shelling using artillery and drones remains the main threat to the border areas of Chernihiv Oblast at this time.
At the same time, the spokesperson emphasized that reports of a possible Russian offensive in the Chernihiv region should not be interpreted as evidence of new enemy plans.
“We cannot say that the enemy has come up with some new plans and that the situation has changed dramatically, as was, unfortunately, reported in the media yesterday. Yes, the enemy does have such plans, and the General Staff has noted this on multiple occasions in the past,” Demchenko explained.
He also added that Ukrainian intelligence, components of the Defense Forces, and military command structures are constantly analyzing information about enemy forces near the border with Chernihiv Oblast and are preparing for any possible developments.
As a reminder, eight people were killed in the Brovary district while waiting for a train as a result of a Russian attack.
As a result of a nighttime Russian missile attack on the night of August 5, production and logistics facilities belonging to the company “Epicenter” sustained significant damage. One employee was killed, and three others were injured.
As a result of a Russian drone attack on August 4 in Dnipro, a warehouse belonging to the company “Biosfera”—which was part of a 20,000-square-meter warehouse complex—was completely destroyed.
