Russia has intensified its assaults in the Pokrovsk direction
Russian troops have stepped up their offensive operations in the Pokrovsk direction, increasing pressure on Ukrainian defenses. According to the "Spartan" Brigade, the enemy is also attempting to disrupt the Ukrainian Defense Forces’ logistics in this area.
Igor Shafigulin, commander of the Spartan Brigade’s special operations battalion, reported this on the “We Are Ukraine” TV channel.
According to him, Pokrovsk holds both military and political significance for the Russian command. In particular, the city is a key logistics hub in the Donbas, and its capture could open the way for the enemy to the administrative border of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.
For the enemy, the primary goal is to reach the administrative border and fulfill the political objective set by the Russian leadership, the military official explained.
Shafigulin noted that since the start of summer, Russian units have increased the number of assault operations. To move covertly, they actively use dense vegetation, forest belts, and plantings.
In addition, the number of Russian drones in the area has increased; the enemy uses them for reconnaissance and to support offensive operations.
However, according to the commander, Ukrainian forces are in control of the situation and are effectively detecting enemy movements.
Our units are holding their ground firmly, and our reconnaissance, detection, and strike capabilities are working effectively. Therefore, no amount of camouflage will help the enemy, Shafigulin emphasized.
He added that the Defense Forces continue to hold their positions and repel attempts by Russian troops to advance in the Pokrovsk direction.
As a reminder, in the Zhytomyr region, infrastructure facilities and private homes were damaged as a result of another attack by Russian drones. Enemy drones struck the region, causing destruction to civilian facilities. Relevant services are on the ground, assessing the consequences of the attack and repairing the damage. Information regarding the extent of the destruction and possible casualties is being clarified.
In the Odesa region, a critical infrastructure facility was damaged by a drone attack.
In the Kyiv region, efforts are underway to extinguish a large-scale fire at an industrial facility caused by a nighttime attack by Russian drones. Units of the State Emergency Service are involved in the firefighting, and cleanup operations are ongoing.
On the night of June 4, Russian forces carried out a massive air attack using a ballistic missile and 293 drones of various types. Ukraine’s air defense forces destroyed or intercepted 264 aerial targets.
