Russia Launches Nearly 40 Attacks on Dnipropetrovsk Region in One Day

On April 8, 2026, Russian forces carried out massive shelling of the Nikopol and Synelnykove districts, resulting in four civilians being injured. In Nikopol and surrounding communities, a hospital, private homes, and vehicles were damaged, with two young men among the casualties.

This was reported by the head of the regional military administration, Oleksandr Hanzha, on Telegram. In the Vasylkivka community, two elderly men were injured by the attacks and hospitalized in moderate condition.

Strikes also hit the communities of Marhanets, Chervonohryhorivka, Pokrovsk, and Myrivka, causing extensive damage to residential areas. In the Synelnykove district, a local lyceum and residents’ vehicles came under fire. Defense forces continue repelling enemy drone attacks, but the intensity of shelling remains high due to the proximity of the frontline. Local authorities urge residents of frontline areas to stay in shelters during air raid alerts.

The ongoing terror against civilian infrastructure by Russia is part of a scorched-earth strategy in southern and eastern Ukraine. Systematic attacks on medical and educational facilities demonstrate the aggressor’s disregard for international humanitarian law. Rescue services continue to deal with the aftermath of strikes and document the damage, while energy and municipal workers are restoring damaged utilities in affected communities. The situation in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast remains under constant control of the military command and the regional administration.

Recall that the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed 980 Russian troops and two air defense systems in one day.

Ukrainian troops are expanding the logistical corridor to Myrnohrad, according to the Airborne Forces.

The Defense Forces continue successfully repelling Russian attempts to advance in the Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad areas.

Pokrovsk has become a critically important direction in Ukraine’s defense.

Units of the Defense Forces in the area of responsibility of Operational Command “East” repelled 106 Russian attacks over the past day.

Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi provided an update on the ongoing situation near Pokrovsk.
