Russia struck Zaporizhzhia with Zircon and KAB missiles; there are casualties and injuries
In Zaporizhzhia, work has been ongoing since the night of August 11 to address the aftermath of the Russian attack. At least six people were killed in the strike, and another 19 were injured.
According to the president, Russian forces struck Zaporizhzhia with North Korean ballistic missiles, “Zircon” missiles, and guided aerial bombs (KABs).
“A brutal attack, calculated to inflict maximum damage specifically on civilian infrastructure,” Zelenskyy emphasized.
As of the time of the president’s statement, six people had been killed and 19 others injured as a result of the Russian strike in Zaporizhzhia.
Rescue workers continue to operate at the sites of the strikes. In particular, efforts are underway to extinguish a fire at one of the facilities damaged by the attack.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy also reported on other consequences of the nighttime attacks.
According to him, a rocket strike in Kyiv damaged an infectious diseases hospital and several businesses.
In addition, Russian troops continue to attack frontline communities with drones.
“In fact, the drone terror in our frontline communities continues on a daily basis. In Kherson and Kharkiv, substations were hit overnight, causing power outages. All services are working to restore power to families. Attacks also took place in the Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, and Mykolaiv regions. In addition to missiles, over 120 drones were deployed against Ukraine, and most of them were “Shahed” jet drones,” the president noted.
The president stated that the nature of the Russian attacks indicates that Moscow is preparing for further escalation.
“Every step Russia takes—increasing ballistic missile production, bringing in North Korean equipment, preparing for mobilization—all of this shows that Moscow is preparing not for peace, but for escalation. And the world needs to respond now, not wait,” Zelenskyy said.
He called on international partners to intensify sanctions pressure on companies supporting the Russian war machine, as well as to increase aid to Ukraine in the form of air defense systems.
“More sanctions pressure specifically on companies supporting the Russian war effort, more air defense assistance for Ukraine—all of this is necessary to give peace a chance. Thank you to those who are helping,” the president concluded.

Over the past 24 hours, on August 10, Russian troops attacked Kharkiv and 16 other settlements in the region. Eleven people were injured as a result of the shelling, according to Oleg Synyegubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration.
On the morning of August 11, a fire broke out at an industrial facility in Orsk, Orenburg Oblast, Russia. According to reports, the fire started after an attack. The facility produces about 30 types of petroleum products, including gasoline, diesel fuel, jet fuel, fuel oil, bitumen, and lubricants.
As a reminder, a gas station and a facility were damaged as a result of a Russian attack on the Poltava region.
In Dnipro on Friday, August 7, a World Health Organization humanitarian warehouse was destroyed as a result of an attack. There were no people on the premises at the time of the strike, and no casualties were reported.
