Video: Occupied Crimea came under a massive drone attack
On the night of August 11–12, the temporarily occupied Crimea came under a massive drone attack. Reports of drone activity were received from various areas across the peninsula.
A series of explosions rang out across the peninsula, and power outages occurred in several towns following the strikes. The attack began on the evening of August 11. Local residents observed drone activity and loud explosions in the Saki District, Kerch, Yalta, Yevpatoria, and Sevastopol. Due to the threat, the occupying administration closed the Crimean Bridge to vehicular traffic.
Later, explosions and the active operation of the occupiers’ air defense systems were heard near the “Belbek” and “Kacha” military airfields, as well as near the Balaklava Thermal Power Plant, which is one of the key facilities in the peninsula’s power grid.
As a result of the strikes, power outages were reported in Simferopol, Saki, Yevpatoria, Mykolaivka, Berehove, Pishchane, and Uglove, while Sevastopol began experiencing severe power disruptions.
“In various parts of Crimea, the power is flickering on and off, according to our followers. The system has become unbalanced,” noted the monitoring group Crimean Wind.
In the Odesa region, traffic to border crossings with Moldova has been restricted due to an attack by the Russian Federation.
As a reminder, Moldova may face an acute electricity shortage.
