Russia has lost another 1,000 troops and two air defense systems in the war against Ukraine
As of April 17, 2026, the total combat losses of Russian forces since the start of the full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022, amount to approximately 1,316,070 personnel. In the past 24 hours alone, the occupiers’ losses increased by another 1,000 soldiers.
This is stated in a post by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook.
During this period, the Russian Federation’s army also lost a significant amount of equipment, including:
- tanks – 11,870 (+4 in the past 24 hours);
- armored combat vehicles – 24,400 (+9);
- artillery systems – 40,160 (+114);
- multiple launch rocket systems – 1,739 (+1);
- air defense systems – 1,349 (+2);
- aircraft – 435;
- helicopters – 350;
- tactical-level unmanned aerial vehicles – 243,008 (+2,410);
- cruise missiles – 4,549 (+12);
- ships and boats – 33;
- submarines – 2;
- vehicles and tankers – 90,014 (+253);
- special equipment – 4,129 (+3).
