Russia preparing mass output of cheap but destructive air-dropped weapons
Russia is preparing to produce up to 120,000 glide bombs this year, according to senior Ukrainian intelligence officials. These weapons are inexpensive but highly destructive, and have become a central component of Moscow’s air assault strategy against Ukraine.

Intelligence sources say Russia has also begun mass production of a new, longer-range version of these bombs, with around 500 units expected in 2025. The extended flight capability allows Russian aircraft to strike Ukrainian targets from safer distances while avoiding air-defense systems.
Since the full-scale invasion began, Russia has significantly expanded its arms industry, though exact output figures remain classified. Meanwhile, Moscow's reliance on North Korean munitions continues, despite reports that Pyongyang’s deliveries have decreased in recent months.
