Russia launched a second strike against rescue workers in Sumy

On the night of March 22, 2026, Russian troops attacked State Emergency Service personnel in Sumy who were inspecting the site of a previous strike. 

According to the State Emergency Service, the enemy struck near a fire tanker just as the unit was preparing to return. Thanks to a timely response, the personnel managed to retreat to a safe location, but a second round of shelling damaged the fire truck.

Over the past 24 hours, the Sumy region has come under massive attack: more than 110 shelling incidents were recorded in 43 settlements, with the highest number in the Sumy and Shostka districts. As a result of drone strikes in the Sumy, Mykolaiv rural, and settlement communities, five civilians aged 37 to 77 were injured. Russia employed the full range of weaponry—from artillery and mortars to guided aerial bombs and FPV drones.

Damage has been reported in many communities across the region: an apartment building was damaged in Shostka, an educational facility in Sumy, and private homes were damaged in the Esman, Bilopil, and Krasnopil communities. In addition to the residential sector, Russian attacks damaged warehouses and civilian infrastructure facilities. The situation in border areas remains tense due to the enemy’s continued use of tactics involving repeated strikes on emergency service locations.

On the night of March 22, 2026, Russian drones struck settlements in the Kyiv region, with the most damage recorded in the Brovary district. 

As a reminder, Russian troops attacked a residential area in Zaporizhzhia: there is damage and people have been injured.

The Russians also attacked four Ukrposhta branches; employees were injured.

In the village of Maidan in the Kramatorsk district of the Donetsk region, a woman was killed and four other people were injured as a result of a Russian drone attack.
