Russia has struck the port of Odesa again; there are casualties

On the night of August 16–17, Russian troops once again attacked port infrastructure in the Odesa region. During the strike, a civilian vessel flying the Togolese flag was damaged; four people were injured, three of whom were taken to the hospital.

 

On the night of August 17, Russian troops launched another strike on port infrastructure in the Odesa region. The attack damaged a civilian vessel flying the flag of the Republic of Togo. The vessel was in the vicinity of the port infrastructure at the time of the Russian strike.

According to preliminary reports, four people were injured. Three of them were hospitalized. One of the injured is in critical condition. Medical personnel are providing all the necessary care to the victims. 

Fires broke out following the strike

The Russian attack caused fires near the port facilities. Rescue workers arrived at the scene promptly. Units of the State Emergency Service extinguished all fires that broke out after the strike. Experts are currently continuing to assess the consequences of the attack. Information regarding the damage and possible additional casualties may be updated.

Russia regularly attacks port infrastructure in the Odesa region. Such strikes pose a threat not only to Ukrainian facilities but also to civilian vessels and people working in the ports. This time, a civilian vessel was again hit. Four people were injured, three of whom remain in the hospital. Oleg Kipper, head of the Odesa Regional State Administration, reported on the consequences of the attack.

In Izium, Kharkiv Oblast, five people were injured as a result of a Russian airstrike. The enemy also damaged at least 15 residential buildings.

Since the evening of August 16, the Russian army has attacked four districts of the Dnipropetrovsk region nearly 20 times. Five people were wounded as a result of the enemy strikes.

In Kherson, power outages occurred as a result of another round of Russian shelling.
