Rheinmetall has delivered the first batch of 155-mm shells from its new plant to Ukraine
The German defense conglomerate Rheinmetall has delivered to Ukraine the first batch of 155-mm artillery shells manufactured at the company’s new “Werk Niedersachsen” plant in Unterlüs, Lower Saxony, Germany.
The first shipment included a small five-digit quantity of artillery shells, as well as propellant charges produced at other plants within the group.
The company noted that it has already fulfilled more than half of the order, and plans to deliver the remaining shells and propellant charges to Ukraine by the end of 2026.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces received the latest RH1412 artillery ammunition, which is compatible with various 155-mm artillery systems. According to the manufacturer, these shells feature increased range and high target destruction efficiency.
Rheinmetall also reported that by 2030, the company plans to increase production of 155-mm artillery shells to approximately 1.5 million units per year.

As a reminder, Ukraine has signed a new contract with the German defense company Rheinmetall for the supply of artillery shells. The deal is estimated to be worth tens of millions of euros, and the first deliveries are expected in 2027.
The American company Lockheed Martin and the German defense conglomerate Rheinmetall have agreed to establish joint production of ATACMS tactical missiles in Europe.
Rheinmetall and MBDA will develop a laser weapon system for the German Navy.
