Russia attacked Ukraine with 137 drones: Air defence forces destroyed 80 Shahed and other drones
On the night of 5 December, Russian troops carried out one of the largest drone attacks on Ukrainian territory in recent times, using 137 strike drones of various types.
This was reported by the Ukrainian Air Force's Telegram channel.
The main strike force consisted of Shahed-type loitering munitions and Gerbera drones, as well as other types of unmanned aerial vehicles.
The attack began on the evening of 4 December at around 7 p.m. and continued until the early hours of the following day, which significantly complicated the work of the air defence forces.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, a total of 137 attack drones were launched across Ukraine, of which about 90 were so-called Shaheds.
The drones were launched from several directions, including from the territory of the Russian Federation — the Kursk, Orel, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk regions, as well as from the temporarily occupied Crimea, from the Chauda region.
Anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems crews and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defence Forces were deployed to repel the massive attack.
According to preliminary data as of 08:30, air defence forces managed to shoot down or suppress 80 enemy Shahed, Gerbera and other types of drones.
