Russia attacked Ukraine with 147 drones; air defense forces destroyed 111 targets
On the night of August 17–18, Russian forces launched 147 attack drones of various types at Ukraine. Air defense forces destroyed 111 enemy targets, but strikes and falling debris were recorded in several regions.
On the night of August 18 (starting at 6:00 p.m. on August 17), the enemy launched an attack with 147 Shahed-type attack UAVs (including jet-powered ones), Gerbera, and “Parody”-type decoy drones from the following directions: Kursk, Orel, Milerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russian Federation), the temporarily occupied territories (TOT) of Donetsk, and the TOT of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
The air attack was repelled by the Ukrainian Air Force, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
According to preliminary data, as of 08:00, air defense forces shot down or neutralized 111 enemy UAVs of the Shahed and Gerber types, as well as other types of drones, in the north, south, and east of the country.
Enemy drones were recorded striking 19 locations, and debris from downed drones was found at 3 locations.

Over the course of August 17, Russian troops attacked 59 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region, killing two people and wounding four others. Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, reported on the consequences of the Russian strikes.
As a reminder, air defense systems were activated in the Kyiv region due to a Russian attack.
Earlier, Ukraine officially designated the long-range “Dovbush T40” unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).
