Russia hides damaged ships in Sevastopol under camouflage nets

In temporarily occupied Sevastopol, the Russian Black Sea Fleet is covering ships damaged by Ukrainian Armed Forces strikes with camouflage nets. This is visible in photos and videos shared on social media, showing the extent of the damage and attempts to conceal it.

This was reported by the Telegram channel “Krymskyi Veter”.

“In Sukharnaya Bay, a large Project 775 landing ship (left) and the Project 1171 landing ship ‘Tapir’ (superstructure covered with camouflage nets) are moored. A Project 1241 ‘Molniya’ missile boat is moving around the bay, missing part of its superstructure and missile launchers, with almost everything from bow to stern covered by camouflage nets,” the report states.

The Project 1171 landing ship ‘Tapir’ was damaged in 2023 following a missile strike by the Ukrainian Defence Forces.

The missile boat ‘Ivanovets’ of Project 1241 “Molniya” was sunk in Lake Donuzlav on 1 February 2024. Its current fate remains unknown.

The Black Sea Fleet is trying to conceal the damage to its ships, portraying them as apparently combat-ready, the Telegram channel added.

Meanwhile, drones attacked the Ilsky oil refinery and Sevastopol; a large fire broke out in Kuban.

Recently, explosions were reported in Ukhta (Komi Republic), approximately 2,000 km from the Ukrainian border, targeting the Lukoil-Ukhtaneftepereabotka oil refinery.

For context, on the night of 12 February, Volgograd region in Russia was hit in an attack on a military facility in the settlement of Kotluban.
