Russia has stepped up pressure toward Rodynske and Bilytske, but there has been no advance
Russian troops have intensified their offensive operations in the Pokrovsk direction, particularly toward Rodynske and Bilytske, but have not made any advances so far. This was reported on August 3 by Major Hryhorii Shapoval, a spokesperson for the “East” military group, in comments to Ukrinform.
According to him, the enemy has concentrated its forces and is attempting to increase pressure on a specific section of the front.
“The enemy has stepped up its activity toward Rodynske and Bilytske. There is a specific line there, and the enemy is trying to apply pressure and concentrate its forces,” Shapoval noted.
Over the past 24 hours, approximately 30 assault operations were recorded in the Pokrovsk direction in the areas of Kotlyne, Udachne, and Novomykolaivka, as well as in the directions of Novyi Donbas, Bilytske, Shevchenko, Vasylivka, Svitly, Hulyve, Novopidhorodne, and Novopavlivka.
The spokesperson also reported that the Ukrainian military has intensified its efforts to combat Russian drone operators. Over the past 24 hours, 76 UAV command posts were destroyed in the area of responsibility of the “East” military group, the majority of which were in the Pokrovsk direction.
According to Shapoval, Russian troops are actively using drones, as well as barrel and rocket artillery. After shelling populated areas, the occupiers attempt to infiltrate built-up areas in small groups and establish a foothold; however, the Defense Forces are detecting and destroying such groups.

The spring-summer offensive by Russian forces has not yielded significant operational results, and the pace of their advance remains significantly slower than last year. This is stated in a new report by the U.S. Institute for the Study of War (ISW) dated August 1.
