Russia has opened a case against Apple for refusing to install the Max messaging app on iPhones
The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of the Russian Federation has opened an antitrust case against Apple. The case was prompted by Apple’s failure to comply with the requirement to pre-install the Russian app store RuStore and the spyware-laden messaging app Max on iOS devices.
Previously, the FAS had issued a warning to the company, demanding that it remove discriminatory conditions for Russian search engines and ensure the pre-installation of domestic software. Apple partially complied with the demands by adding the option to select a Russian search engine as the default in the latest version of iOS; however, its failure to comply with the requirements regarding the messaging app and RuStore led to the opening of the proceedings.

A number of popular Russian services that have come under state control in recent years have begun to disappear from the Google Play app store. These include social networks, messaging apps, email services, and multimedia platforms.
