Russia continues to use Belarusian airspace for drone attacks — Demchenko
The Russian Federation continues to actively use the airspace of the Republic of Belarus to launch attacks on Ukrainian territory using strike drones.
During the latest nighttime shelling, enemy drones maneuvered along the state border, after which some of them flew deep into Ukrainian territory via Belarusian airspace.
Military command notes that the tactics of the Russian occupation forces have remained unchanged for a long time.
The enemy deliberately routes drones through a neighboring country to complicate the work of Ukrainian air defense units and mobile fire groups.
The main directions of the detected aerial targets were the northern regions of Ukraine, from where the drones continued their movement toward the capital and western regions.
“Last night, the enemy’s tactics remained unchanged: drones enter from Russian territory and then move along the Ukrainian-Belarusian border. Some of the drones cross into Belarusian airspace and use it to penetrate deeper into Ukraine, specifically through the Kyiv and Zhytomyr regions, before continuing toward the western regions,” Demchenko noted.
Border guards reported that enemy drones were particularly active last night within the Chernihiv and Kyiv regions.
However, unlike previous attacks, the flight paths of most launches were adjusted. Instead of transiting to the west of the country, the bulk of Russian strike drones flew directly toward the capital.
Ukrainian defense forces demonstrated high effectiveness, neutralizing most of the threat even before it reached the city.
“Over the past day, for example, our fire teams destroyed a total of more than 45 strike drones,” emphasized the spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
This was stated on television by Andriy Demchenko, spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
