Russia is recruiting Ukrainians to gather information about the railway
Russian intelligence agencies are attempting to obtain information from Ukrainians about Ukrzaliznytsia facilities and the movement of military cargo. In exchange for such information, people may be offered money or given tasks presented as supposedly “anonymous side jobs.”
Ukrzaliznytsia warns that the collected data could be used by Russia to plan new attacks on railway infrastructure.
In particular, those recruited may be asked to photograph railway facilities, provide their coordinates, report on the consequences of shelling, or describe the movement of military cargo. Tasks may also include damaging railway property.
The company urges people not to agree to such proposals and not to share any information with the enemy. Suspicious messages can be reported via the Telegram bot “SBU / Hotline: Railways” or by calling +38 (099) 803 50 81 on WhatsApp, Telegram, or Viber.

On September 12, Russian troops struck a train at the Lutsk railway station. A major fire broke out at the scene following the strike.
Russian forces struck the locomotive of a passenger train in Volyn, approximately two kilometers from the Ukrainian-Polish border. According to preliminary reports, no one was injured in the attack.
