The Russians are building an earthen bridge near Henichesk in the direction of Crimea

The Russians are building an earthen bridge near Henichesk in the direction of Crimea

Russian troops have begun construction of a new earthen bridge near the temporarily occupied city of Henichesk, which is intended to connect the captured areas of the Kherson region with the annexed Crimea.

This infrastructure project runs across the Arabat Spit and is a critically important part of Russian land logistics in southern Ukraine.

The creation of this additional crossing is driven by the invaders’ desire to secure their supply routes from regular attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The new structure, captured in the footage, is being built by the enemy directly next to the existing road bridge.

This road bridge had previously sustained significant damage and was put out of commission as a result of a series of successful strikes by Ukrainian drones.

The main purpose of the future embankment structure is to ensure the uninterrupted and rapid movement of heavy vehicles.

This primarily refers to large trucks that handle the logistics of supplying military cargo both to the occupied peninsula and to the southern sectors of the front line on the Ukrainian mainland.

In these areas, Russian occupiers continue to conduct offensive operations and are in dire need of ammunition and equipment.

In the published photo, dated June 21, 2026, a temporary pontoon crossing for vehicles on the other side of the damaged bridge is also clearly visible.

The Russians deployed this engineering structure several weeks ago as an emergency measure to restore traffic following Ukrainian shelling.

However, combat experience has shown that the pontoon bridge remains vulnerable to strikes by Ukrainian drones carrying powerful warheads.

A recent satellite image from Vantor, released by George Barros, an analyst at the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) and an OSINT researcher, officially confirms the start of construction work.
