Russians are demanding money from residents of the occupied territories to fund their army
In the temporarily occupied territories of Zaporizhzhia Oblast, representatives of the occupation administration have launched a campaign to forcibly collect funds and property for the needs of Russian military units.
According to the Center for National Resistance, collaborators and officials brought in from outside are forcing local residents to actively participate in so-called “volunteer activities.” The main targets for this “tribute” are business owners and public sector employees in Melitopol, Berdiansk, and Polohy, who are required to make regular financial contributions or purchase medical supplies and equipment for Russian troops on the front lines.
Those who try to evade such “charity” are intimidated with unscheduled inspections, license revocations, and accusations of financing the Armed Forces of Ukraine. At the same time, through “civil society movements” and educational institutions controlled by the Kremlin, the occupiers are organizing collections of food, warm clothing, and hygiene supplies. In this way, the Russian authorities are attempting to address chronic shortages in supplying their own soldiers.
