The Russians have changed their tactics in the Lyman area

The Russians have changed their tactics in the Lyman area

Russian troops in the Lyman sector alternate between periods of relative calm and sudden intensification of assaults, attempting to catch Ukrainian defenders off guard. The occupiers are using dense vegetation to approach Ukrainian Armed Forces positions covertly, according to the 66th Separate Mechanized Brigade.

It noted that the enemy is currently operating with varying intensity, attempting to employ surprise attack tactics.

“Compared to last summer, when enemy assaults continued nonstop, the enemy is now looking for opportunities to catch us off guard: it periodically creates lulls in order to intensify its attacks later,” Denisyuk explained.

The occupiers are advancing in small groups

According to the military official, Russian troops primarily operate in small groups, using dense vegetation to conceal their approach to the front line.

First, the occupiers try to build up their forces, after which they launch assaults or attempt to penetrate Ukrainian defensive lines.

“We’re using unmanned aerial systems and artillery to thwart such attempts by the enemy. Of course, our infantry is deployed where necessary,” noted the spokesperson for the 66th Mechanized Brigade.

If the enemy does manage to get closer, Ukrainian infantry engages in combat, conducting small-arms fire supported by artillery and unmanned aerial vehicles.

Vasyl Denysiuk, spokesperson for the 66th Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Mstislav the Brave, spoke about this on the program “Ukrainian Focus: Morning” on Slawa.TV and Espreso.
