A Russian attack on Kyiv claimed the lives of a mother and her 18-year-old daughter

On the night of August 1, 2026, during a Russian shelling of Kyiv, Olena Rozhnyativska, a project manager for the Silpo chain, and her 18-year-old daughter Kateryna were killed. The mother and daughter were killed on their way to a shelter while trying to escape the attack.

It is noted that Olena Rozhnyativska worked as a project manager in the merchandising department of the operations office. Her daughter Kateryna was also part of the retail chain—she worked as a sales associate at the supermarket located at 12 Dniprovska Embankment.

“This is an irreparable loss for our entire team. It is difficult to find words that could convey the pain of their passing. We express our sincere condolences to their family, loved ones, friends, and colleagues,” the company stated.

The company added that it is in contact with the families of the deceased and is providing all necessary assistance.

This was reported on the official “Jobs at Silpo” page.

As a result of Russian strikes on the Kharkiv region, one person was killed and another was injured.

Earlier, the Ukrainian Armed Forces successfully counterattacked near Sloviansk and halted the Russian Federation’s advance, according to the ISW.

As a reminder, the spring-summer offensive by Russian forces has not yielded significant operational results, and the pace of their advance remains significantly slower than last year. This is stated in a new report by the U.S. Institute for the Study of War (ISW) dated August 1.

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is attempting to avoid personal responsibility for the war against Ukraine by shifting the blame onto other government officials and Russian citizens.
