Russian drones are destroying crops in the Kherson region
In the Kherson region, Russian troops are deliberately attacking farmland, destroying crops. According to farmers, drones are dropping incendiary munitions from various directions to cover as much of the crops as possible with fire and destroy the grain.
This was reported by Viktor Gordienko, head of the Kherson Region Farmers’ Association.
“They fly in from all sides and drop incendiary munitions, deliberately setting the fields on fire. That’s exactly what they did to my fields. They dropped incendiary charges from different directions so that the fire would cover as large an area as possible.”
Farmers say Russian troops have been terrorizing the Beryslav and Tyagyn territorial communities.
Due to the constant threat of repeated strikes and landmines, State Emergency Service rescuers cannot quickly reach the fire sites, and the fire spreads rapidly within minutes, destroying a year’s worth of work.
Risking their own lives, with their bare hands and whatever tools they can find, they are trying to contain the flames, while enemy FPV drones circle overhead. They are using drones to strike people and equipment to prevent the fire from being extinguished.
“Last night, they nearly killed my machine operator as well. After everything he’s been through, he just couldn’t take it anymore. Right now, he’s leaving the village because he can no longer live and work under the constant threat of death,” Gordienko said.

Gordienko’s own farm has lost about 1,700 hectares of fields planted with wheat. In total, according to preliminary estimates, about 2,000 hectares of crops have already been burned in the Kherson region.
The Russians are deliberately burning fields and forest belts so that Ukrainian troops have nowhere to hide and farmers are left without income.
“They have one goal—to burn everything down. To destroy the grain, destroy the harvest, and turn the fertile Ukrainian land into a wasteland. This is a deliberate act of terror against Ukrainian farmers, our people, and our land,” Gordienko wrote.
Polish President Karol Nawrocki stated that Ukraine’s potential membership in the European Union poses serious challenges and threats to the Polish agricultural sector. The Polish leader made this statement during a speech to agricultural producers at the AgroLiga 2025 industry competition.
