Russian shelling has caused new power outages in five regions

New power outages have been reported as a result of massive attacks by Russian drones on energy infrastructure facilities and systematic artillery shelling in frontline regions.

As of Monday morning, March 23, 2026, consumers in the Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Sumy, Mykolaiv, and Kirovohrad regions were left without power.

The national energy company Ukrenergo reports that emergency repair crews have already begun work in areas where the security situation permits.

Energy workers are doing everything possible to restore power as quickly as possible to Ukrainian homes and industrial facilities in the affected regions.

Due to significant damage caused by previous massive enemy strikes on the power grid, restrictions will be in effect today across all regions of Ukraine.

Specifically, from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM, power restriction schedules will be implemented for industry, as well as hourly blackout schedules for residential consumers.

“Energy workers are doing everything possible to restore power to all consumers as quickly as possible,” the agency emphasized, urging citizens to be understanding of the necessary measures to stabilize the power grid.

Interestingly, electricity consumption as of 9:30 a.m. on Monday was 1.4% lower compared to last Friday.

The main reason for this decrease was clear, sunny weather in most regions, which allowed private solar power plants to operate efficiently and reduce the load on the overall grid.

As a reminder, for the first time in a long while, there will be no power outages in Ukraine.

Additionally, hourly power outage schedules will be implemented in all regions of Ukraine on March 23.
