Russian invaders fired 100 shells at the Kherson CHP, leaving thousands without heat
Russian terrorists once again shelled the Kherson Combined Heat and Power Plant (CHP). This time, they fired approximately 100 shells at this critical infrastructure facility. Restoring the station’s operation is complicated, leaving thousands of residents without heating.
This was reported by Oleksandr Tolokonnikov, Deputy Head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, during the telemarathon.
According to him, about 100 enemy shells hit the Kherson CHP. The facility suffered serious damage, and restoring it will be very difficult. Currently, more than 40,000 subscribers are without electricity and heat due to these Russian attacks.
However, the actual number of people left without heating and electricity is smaller, as only about 25% of apartments are occupied. Nevertheless, local authorities are seeking ways to provide people with at least some heating, preferably in a decentralized manner.
“We have also reached out to charities. The city administration still has some stock of heaters, and Naftogaz is assisting the residents of Kherson by providing electric heaters for those apartments without heat so they can survive this winter. At the same time, we have not given up hope of restoring the CHP and will do everything necessary to achieve that,” Tolokonnikov said while commenting on the situation.
