A church belonging to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate was damaged in Chornomorsk as a result of a Russian attack overnight
On the night of Saturday, June 6, 2026, during yet another airstrike by Russian forces on civilian infrastructure in the Odesa region, the Transfiguration Church in the city of Chornomorsk was damaged.
As a result of the blast wave and flying debris, windows in the church building itself were shattered. In addition, the grounds of the local Sunday school, the inner courtyard of the religious complex, and the surrounding protective fence sustained significant damage. No reports of casualties among parishioners or clergy have been received so far.
The Information Center of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church reported this on Facebook, citing an official statement from the press service of the Odesa Diocese.
