Russian drone attacks locomotive at railway in Zaporizhzhia region
On the morning of February 2, Russian forces struck a locomotive with a drone at a railway station in Zaporizhzhia region. The locomotive crew was in shelter at the time of the attack, so there were no casualties.
Ukrzaliznytsia reported that the consequences of the strike are being eliminated as quickly as possible. Despite the challenging security situation, the company continues to ensure stable railway operations.
The Ministry of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine stated.
“This morning the enemy carried out another attack on Ukrzaliznytsia facilities. In Zaporizhzhia, Russia targeted a locomotive at the station with a UAV. The locomotive crew was in shelter at the moment of the strike — no one was injured. Such attacks are part of a systematic strategy of pressure by the terrorist state on Ukrainian civil logistics and the country’s vital infrastructure.”
Ukrzaliznytsia emphasized that it is rapidly eliminating the consequences of shelling and, given the difficult security situation, continues to maintain stable railway service, transporting passengers and cargo essential for the economy and humanitarian needs.
This was the second drone attack on Zaporizhzhia that day.
Over the past day, Russian occupiers also struck the Kharkiv region, using guided aerial bombs and several types of UAVs.
On the night of February 1, Russian forces carried out a massive attack on Ukraine, deploying 90 drones, around 60 of which were Shahed-type strike UAVs.
In Dnipro, a hostile UAV strike killed two people — a woman and a man.
