Russian resort city of Sochi under massive drone attack for nearly 24 hours
The Russian resort city of Sochi has been placed on high alert due to a continuous attack by unmanned aerial vehicles that has been ongoing for nearly 24 hours.
Because of the sustained high level of danger and the operation of air defense systems, local authorities have urged parents not to send their children to schools and kindergartens.
The situation in the resort city remains tense, as the aerial threat has persisted for an extended period.
According to the mayor, schools and kindergartens are equipped with special protected zones where people can stay during air raid alerts.
School administrations and security staff are reportedly aware of the procedures to follow in the event of strikes, but the risk of being outdoors remains critical.
Residents and the numerous tourists in the city have been strongly advised not to go out into open areas and to remain indoors.
The city’s transport infrastructure has also been severely disrupted, particularly air traffic.
At the local airport, hundreds of passengers have been waiting since yesterday for their departures, as the airspace over the region remains closed or restricted for civilian aviation.
Earlier, Ukrainian forces struck a strategic plant in Bryansk.
Drones also attacked an ammunition depot in Mariupol and facilities in several cities across Russia.
