Rubio: The U.S. Is Ready to Help End Russia's War Against Ukraine
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the United States is ready to participate in resolving the war waged by the Russian Federation—the aggressor state—against Ukraine, should an opportunity arise to reach a peace agreement.
According to Rubio, Washington seeks an end to the war and is ready to play a constructive role in this process. He emphasized that a settlement requires a solution that both Russia and Ukraine can agree to.
“We want a peace agreement. We want the war to end. We are ready to play whatever constructive role we can to bring the war to an end, and this will require something that both Russia and Ukraine can agree to,” the Secretary of State said.
Rubio noted that the U.S. has already made efforts toward a settlement, but these have not yielded results. According to him, U.S. President Donald Trump is committed to this goal, and the United States is ready to act if conditions and circumstances allow for a positive change in the situation.
The Secretary of State also reported that Trump calls the Russian-Ukrainian war “stupid” and “senseless.” Rubio stated that new ideas are needed to break the deadlock in the negotiations.
On the same day, Rubio said that during a meeting with Sergey Lavrov, the foreign minister of the aggressor state, the Russian Federation, in the Philippines, he discussed the need to end the war against Ukraine. The Russian Foreign Ministry stated that Lavrov informed Rubio of the “real” state of affairs in the Russian-Ukrainian war and declared that “further arms deliveries” to Ukraine were “unacceptable.”
