The SBU detained an enemy agent in Donetsk Oblast who was directing the shelling of Kramatorsk
The Security Service of Ukraine has neutralized a Russian military intelligence agent in the Donetsk region who was planning shelling attacks on Kramatorsk and destroying property belonging to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The perpetrator provided the occupiers with coordinates for new missile and bomb strikes on the city and personally tracked armored vehicles to set them on fire.
The suspect turned out to be a local resident who was a member of a criminal group engaged in looting at sites of enemy “strikes.”
Russian intelligence services recruited him through pro-Kremlin comments he made on the Telegram messaging app.
In exchange for carrying out these tasks, the enemy promised the man a monetary reward, which became the primary motive for committing the crime.
“In exchange for money, the agent agreed to direct shelling at the district center and set fire to Ukrainian defenders’ military equipment,” the SBU press center noted.
In addition to directing fire at civilian and critical infrastructure, the agent was tasked with sabotage activities.
He was to identify the locations of Defense Forces units and set their vehicles on fire using flammable mixtures.
SBU counterintelligence officers conducted a multi-stage special operation and detained the enemy collaborator directly at his place of residence.
During searches, a mobile phone was seized from the detainee, which contained direct evidence of communication with a Russian handler.
Thanks to the prompt intervention of the security services, measures were taken in time to secure the locations, the details of which the agent had managed to transmit to the enemy.
This prevented potential casualties and preserved critical military facilities.

The SBU also detained a Russian agent who was guiding airstrikes on Sloviansk.
