Johannes Persson, the vocalist and guitarist of the Swedish post-metal band Cult of Luna, has drawn attention to the humanitarian situation in the temporarily occupied town of Oleshky in the Kherson region. The musician shared information about the humanitarian blockade of the city, where civilians are left without adequate assistance.

Johannes Persson has supported Ukraine since the start of the full-scale invasion. Since 2022, he has taken the stage with a Ukrainian flag during his concerts.

Johannes Persson reposted a message describing the humanitarian crisis in the occupied town of Oleshky in the Kherson region. The town is currently under occupation by Russian troops, who are preventing the evacuation of civilians and the delivery of aid to them.

Johannes Persson, along with his band, supports Ukraine in the war against Russia. Since the start of the full-scale invasion, the singer has been sharing information about Russian aggression.

During his performances, the musician always unfurls a Ukrainian flag. In June 2026, the band appeared on stage without the flag, which Johannes Persson later attributed to logistical issues. That was the first time since 2022 that he had taken the stage without the Ukrainian flag.

“Yesterday, I had to play without the Ukrainian flag on my amplifier for the first time since 2022. The reason for this is nothing other than the inability to deliver our equipment from point A to point B. I will continue to support Ukraine and its brave people until this war ends on Ukraine’s terms,” Persson wrote.
